    Personal Taxation Returns

    Are you using Broadhead Accountants Limited to complete your self-assessment tax return yet?

    HM Revenue and Customs may request a self-assessment personal tax return from you for a number of reasons, including:

    • Employment income above a threshold or untaxed employment benefits;
    • Holding a company directorship;
    • Share investment income (dividends);
    • Property rental income;
    • Foreign income.
    Using the latest working practices, including electronic filing, we will ensure that your taxation return is accurate and secure, no matter your individual circumstances.

    Whilst we have considerable experience handling taxation returns for UK non-domiciled taxpayers and individuals with multiple income sources, including offshore, we also have experience dealing with straightforward returns, too. Whatever you need, big or small, we can help!

    Company Incorporations

    Thinking of setting up a UK company? Come talk to us at Broadhead Accountants.

    With clear, practical advice from the offset, we can steer you through the entire process, advising on everything from the company name to the best trading structure to minimise tax and manage the administration.

    Best of all, because we can file all the paperwork electronically, we can usually complete the entire process within one working day of receiving your details – meaning you can commence trading swiftly.

    For a new venture, you might wish to consider setting up a limited company. A limited company separates liability from the company owners and is usually a more tax efficient trading structure. We can elaborate on the advantages and other options as convenient to you, as well as ensuring that you easily meet your legal obligations as a company director.

    To incorporate a company, please contact us.

    Electronic Filings

    Broadhead Accountants Limited use the latest the software and processes to handle electronic filings for financial statements when we correspond with Companies House and HM Revenue and Customs.

    Keeping this software up-to-date is no easy (or inexpensive) feat. Therefore, if you’re an accountant who does not have direct access, get in touch – we have a filing-only service available for your use.

    We are incredibly flexible, and offer these services to other accountants, too, accepting information part-way through the accounting process (usually at the trial balance stage). All work is completed to the same high standards as our own clients, and, naturally, fully confidential.

    Please contact us to find out more!

    Bookkeeping with Xero

    As a technology lead practice, we’re advocates of Xero-Cloud Accounting. Just as more of us are using cloud-based technology at home to save our documents, cloud accounting, too, is increasing in popularity. A great innovation, cloud accounting allows accurate and up-to-date accounting records to be maintained free of the limitations of traditional accounting systems.

    We’ve partnered up with the clever people over at “Xero”, and we’re confident that they are the market-leaders when it comes to solid book-keeping solutions. Designed for “non accountants” use, Xero even incorporates bank data downloads via bank feeds (authorisation required) to keep your accounts right up to date.

    The main benefits of the system are:

    • Regular bank downloads/checks;
    • Easier invoices and debtor management;
    • VAT and management reporting;
    • No other software required; and
    • Data security (backed up off site as well as password protected).

    Xero has a very intuitive design, which makes using Xero simple and straightforward. All we need is for you to authorise a bank feed – which we can help with, naturally – and we’ll cover everything else.

    With the cloud accounting model, files do not need to be exchanged individually. As you upload an invoice or expense onto Xero, you can eventually reconcile it with the downloaded bank statements, streamlining the process and saving you the hassle of sending us your income and expenses workings.

    One of the strengths of Xero over traditional accounting systems is its functionality. Invoices can be produced from within the Xero program itself, which can then be matched as payments are deposited into the company bank account. Coding items is also easier thanks to a simple drop-down list, and even if you stumble across an item that’s harder to categorise, you can add a comment right there in program – making it easy to communicate with us.

    Still unsure? Why not give us a quick, no-obligation call to talk about Xero? We can hook you up with a free trial.

    If you have started using Xero we have a online guide we can direct you to.

    Company Closures

    Have you finished trading with your limited company and are unsure what to do next? Please speak to us. We can help with the closure of your company, and we’re experienced in everything from paying creditors, requesting the dissolution of the company, to filing all financial statements/corporate tax returns.

    The dissolution process begins by completing a simple form called a DS01. Once each director has signed, return the original form to us. Providing the company has been “dormant” for three months, Companies House will ensure that you’ve ceased trading by giving the public the opportunity to object to the planned dissolution.

    Remember: before seeking the closure of the company, you must ensure that any taxation liabilities/creditors are cleared and close the company bank account. Any remaining assets will fall to the government once the company’s dissolved, so make sure you’ve transferred everything before the company’s officially dissolved!

    Would you like to know more? Pleas get in contact and we’d be delighted to give you more information.
